About Watershock
Watershock was conducted in 2005 and it has been an overwhelming success attracting numerous participants from SMU to engage in a day of fun filled activities ranging from water events such as Banana Boat rides and Wakeboarding to land events such as Rollerblading.
This year, Watershock is organised with the aim of providing an avenue for the SMU community (i.e. students, alumni, staff, faculty and their family members) to interact and get to know each other. Apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle, Watershock 2006 also aims at promoting the outdoors and sporting activities to the SMU citizen.
Watershock also aims to improve SMU student life through a myriad of events that are conducted outdoors so as to reach out to SMU students and increase their awareness of outdoor activities. Furthermore, we also aim to attract SMU staff and faculty as well as their family members to join us in promoting a healthy lifestyle and outdoor activities.
As SMU has moved into its new campus, we would also like to promote the idea that outdoor activities can still be conducted in the city area since there are also many parks which are built in the Central Area.
We have already gotten approval from the authorities for the use of Marina City Park (beside One Raffles Quay) and we hope that through the event, we are able to promote a balanced work life in the city area.

They are namely trekking, kayaking, diving, biking and Xseed team. With the support of these 5 teams, SMUX provides a mirage of activities inclusive of outdoor orientation camps, night bikes, adventure races, local and oversees trekking expeditions, biking expeditions, diving courses and expeditions, kayaking courses and expeditions, canoe polo, cable skiing events, horse riding events, skating clinics, the upcoming sky diving courses, and other outdoor-related activities aimed at initiating SMU students to the outdoors. SMUX represents a spirit of adventure, fun, exploration, discovery and self-actualization. It is also another avenue where students can enhance their learning and hone their personal confidence by overcoming challenges. SMUX also represents friendship and unity through shared experiences, an open-minded and team-based management style with a flat hierarchy. It also respects individuals, and does not discriminate against physical handicap or weaknesses in personalities. It is by being open to these rooms for growth that we will grow from strength to strength with the individuals who join our club. Furthermore, through its partnership with the ExPLOR program, SMUX also assists in providing SMU students interested in leading outdoor expeditions with support in areas of training, planning and logistics. Currently, SMUX assists in the annual installment of the Dare 2 Dream, Zerolimits initiatives as well as provide students with training through the administration of ExPLORer courses. In all, SMUX reaches out to the uninitiated and spread the outdoor spirit to the SMU community. We seek to promote outdoor activities to further enrich the lives of SMU students. So "May the Boundaries Fall, and the Growth Begin". Back to the TopAbout SSU
